A Simple Shopping Guide – LA style
- Blog Post
Having not been back to LA for many years and hearing the renewed whispers about the fabulous shopping there, I was excited to once again to stroll down Melrose Avenue and Rodeo Drive and explore the little boutiques and designer shops which I had heard so much about. I even made sure that I left extra space in my suitcase with the prospects of returning home with a whole new Autumn/Winter wardrobe.
In London we are so spoilt for choice with the wonderful shopping opportunities. All fabulous, funky, cool and sophisticated shops, stores and markets available at our door step. There really is nothing you can’t get hold of. I for one, never take it for granted, no matter how far and wide we travel.
SO it was my quest to find something out of the ordinary that only LA can offer.
I began my journey on Melrose Avenue, where I did find lots of cute designer stores. One which particularly stood out for me was ‘Reformation’. I found many gorgeous summer dresses and jumpsuits, which I will be able to wear as we transition into Autumn, by simply putting a long sleeve t-shirt underneath. The store is an experience within its self, with an interactive screen that enables you to pick the size of the item you would like, and then delivered straight to your changing room.
One things for sure – the service in LA is a huge upgrade from anything you might get in London!

Abbot Kinney shopping area:
Before arriving in LA I was told to go to Abbot Kinney – an amazing shopping area right next to Venice Beach. Along this road you can find cute stand alone boutiques, some a little pricey but affordable. There is a much cooler, younger feel to this area, with the shops being more beachy and relaxed.
Ruti
Ruti is an Israeli designer that has some really great, funky items. The shop assistant’s are so helpful and really show you some great pieces. Here are a few looks great for your winter wardrobe.
Zadig and Voltaire:
Although Zadig and Voltaire is also in London, I found some really great items whilst in LA which will work perfectly for the cold British winter. Zadig are particularly good for boots and warm jumpers and cardigans.
Made In Earth:
I stumbled across Made In Earth which is the most gorgeous jewellery designer. Every piece is made from a special stone ranging in all different sizes. Accessories are always perfect when styling an outfit, making it interesting and creating a different type of look even if you wear the same item. These are a few of my favourite pieces:

Vince:
You can find Vince in a few different locations across LA, and its definitely worth a visit. The colours of their sweaters are perfect for this winter! It is quite pricey but also wearable throughout the year if living in colder climes, so I would say its an investment. They also have gorgeous winter coats which can be worn on a yearly basis as the quality is beautiful.
IRO:
Before shopping to LA, I had never heard of IRO but turns out they also have one store in London. However, I would definitely check it out if you go to LA as I found some classic pieces with a bit of a twist. Specially with their dresses and jumpers.
Rodeo Drive shopping area:
Walking down Rodeo Drive is definitely something you should do, however if you do not have the budget for the likes of Gucci and Chanel stick to window shopping! Rodeo Drive is the equivalent of Old Bond Street, so if you have the budget its definitely worth looking at as the selections are huge and it is a fantastic ‘Pretty Women’ experience!
