SPRING 2020 – What to wear if you want to stay stylish this spring
- Blog Post
Disco collar
We’re not getting rid of disco just yet, one of the biggest trends this spring is the ‘disco collar’. Seen on Victoria Beckham and the runways of Vivetta and Saint Laurent.
Mismatch prints
Seen in the Louis Vuitton runway at Paris Fashion week last month mix and match prints and textures, still a cool look!
Hot pants
As seen on Gigi Hadid when she walked the runway for Chanel and brands like Longchamp and Isabel Marant. This isn’t an easy look to conquer, legs need to be perfect, easier to get away with on holiday, but if you can, do it!
Bra tops
Seen on the runways of Givenchy, Tom Ford and Lanvin. A cool rock chick look and easily wearable, if in doubt cover up with a sheer floaty shirt, giving a hint of bra but not too ‘in your face’!
60´s wallpaper print
Seen on the runways for Gucci, Fendi, Marni and Loui Vuitton. Experiment with assorted prints, textures and colours. Fear not!
Shorts suit/Bermuda shorts
Also known as ‘mum shorts’, just above the knee and belted by the waist. Seen on the runways for Tom Ford and Staud.
If you don’t have that long calf, better to add a small heel to extend your leg. Think about your knees as well as the backs of your legs – can they be shown the light of day? If not go for a slightly longer short.
Waistcoat/vest
In earlier days Kate Moss was the one rocking this trend. Now it’s seen on Kaia Gerber for Saint Laurent. Great way to accentuate your shape.
Cut outs
Off-White is one of the brands that has many styles with cut outs in their SS/20 collection. Other brands that has included this in their collection is Burberry and JW Anderson. Make sure the cuts outs flatter the best part of your body.
Trench
This season trench is not only seen on the Burberry runway, but for plenty of other brands as well. Like Alexander McQueen, Michael Kors, Coach, Versace and many more. Be prepared whether rain or shine, open or closed.
All denim everything
This season is teaching us about denim. Balenciaga and Alexander Wang are two brands that has upgraded the denim front. Go for double even triple denim for the ultimate cool look.
See through sexy lace
We have seen it on Isabel Marant, Loewe and Alexander McQueen this season and it seems to be a spring hit. Bohemian, Sheer and chic. Bows and ruffles. More is more!
Tropical prints
You have seen the famous dress designed by Versace, on Geri from Spice Girls in 1999. Jennifer Lopez did a comeback with the dress at Milano fashion week last month. You will probably spot the print again this spring. The tropical print appeared on plenty of the shows during Milan fashion week, inspired by the global climate strike. Dolce & Gabbana definitely went all in for ‘safari chic’ this season.
